Canadian Attestation papers say he was born in Perth, on 30th  May 1890.  he was a labourer.  He joined up on 18th July 1915.  His next-of-kin was David, his father.  He was 5ft 71/2 inches tall.  He was of medium complextion, with brown eyes and hair.  He had a scar on his left wrist, and a tattoo of a girl on his right arm.
