In the Blairgowrie Advertiser for 27th March 1915 page 6, there is the following article..

"Death of Coupar Angus Soldier"

"On Friday the death took place at Hornchurch of Pvt James MacRitchie, of the Sportsman's Regiment, on whose behalf he was but a few weeks ago doing recruiting in this district and in Dundee. Prt MacRitchie, farmer, Kemphill, and was for a number of years engaged in the horse and cattle trade in Canada and the Argentine.  Latterly, before Identifying himself with the Army, he was in business in the South of Scotland.  Deceased is survived by a widow, daughter of the late Mr. John Scott, of Keithick Maines, and a family of five. The funeral took place with military honours at Hornchurch."
