Here there are four photographs  of the four sons of the late Mr. Hugh Grant, and grandsons of Mrs. David Grant, Terminus Street, Blairgowrie, who are on active service, viz:-

Private David Grant, Royal Engineers (Transport), formally a ploughman at Merklands;

Private George Grant, 8the Black Watch, formally a ploughman at Middle Mause;

Private John Grant, Royal Naval Volunteer reserve, formally a ploughman at Mains of rattray;

Private Hugh Grant, Royal Naval Defence formally apprentice grocer with Messers. William Low & Co*., Allan Street, Blairgowrie.

All enlisted since the outbreak of the War.

This is the fourth Blairgowrie family with four brothers serving their King and Country.

* William Low & Co., was taken over by the supermarket giant, Tesco, in the 1990s.

Hugh and John are also mentioned on Alyth Memorial.  Here their ranks are given as H.B. (Hugh), and H.G.A.B. (John).
