b. cir 1922. They were married on 12 October 1923 at 16, King Street, Dundee, by the ‘something’(?) in presence of Thomas Reeve and Isabella Markin (?), both of Bal…all… (?), New Rattray, Blairgowrie. John was a coal miner, 25, of 107 (?) Grieve Street, Methilhill, Windygates, Fife. His parents were James Clarkin, foundry worker, deceased, and Isabella Smith, nee Bruce. Margaret was a jute worker, 21, of 8 Terminus Street, Blairgowrie. Her parents were Peter Jamieson, meal miller, and Helen Jamieson, nee Petrie.

James Clarkin and Isabella Smith Bruce married on 18 December, 1891 at 48 Crescent Lane, Dundee. His parents were William Clarkin, stone cutters labourer and Christine, nee Hay. Isabella’s parents were Alexander Bruce, saw miller (deceased), and Jane, nee Robertson. Witnesses were Edward Hearderer and Maggie Lovie.

According to the newspaper report of his death (Blairgowrie Advertiser), John died at a ford on a cross-country run.
