Family information :-   Son of William and Jessie Brown, Dungarthhill, Perthshire. b. cir 1923.

William and Jessie were married on 3 April 1908 at Cargill Manse. He was 24 years old, and an under gamekeeper, living at Woodland Cottage, Burrleton, the son of William Brown, agricultural labourer and Jane, nee Gardiner. Jessie Scott Patterson, was a 21 year old domestic servant, of North Street, Burrleton. Her father was George Patterson, a ploughman, and her mother was Annie, nee Reid. Witnesses were A. Wilson, and Catherine Brown.

In the 1911 census William and Jane were living, with sons George, 2, and William, 11 months, at Gladefield, Cargill, Perthshire. By that time, William was a gamekeeper. He was born in Cargill, Jane was born in Rattray, Perthshire, and the children were also born in Cargill.
