Family information :-   Son of James and Jane Imray Brogan, Rattray, Perthshire. b. 1923.

There is a birth certificate for a Joseph Brogan, b. 1923, St Mary and St Peter, Dundee. This is probably him, as his parents were married there on 21 April 1919. The marriage certificate is very ‘scratchy’ and difficult to read. It seems to say the address was 13, Something or other Lane, Dundee. James’s father was James Brogan, flax mill dresser (?), and his mother was Elizabeth, nee Paton. Jane was 22, and living at 115, South Road, Lochee, a sack machinist (possibly), her parents were John Imray, machine fitter (deceased), and Helen, nee Purkis (?).

In the 1911 census there is a John Imray, aged 8, living with his mother, Ellen and his siblings, in Bog Close, Lochee. The whole household, except his younger sister, Alice, were born in England.
